Triskel:
From earliest times in Celtic tradition, great significance was attached
to the number three. Pythagoras called three the perfect number; a tripod
will not rock. Three can represent life: male, female and progeny; time:
past, present and future; the world: sky, earth and underground.
Mythic literature is full of triads. The Morrigna - Badb,
Macha and Morrigan;
Gaulish gods - Esus,
Taranis and
Teutates; Female
personifications of Ireland - Eriu, Banba and Fodla: Gods of craft -
Credne, Goibniu and Luchta.

Blodeuedd:
When Arianrhood
had cursed Lleu
by saying he should not have a wife of any race on earth, the great
magicians Gwydion and Math fashioned Blodewedd
from the flowers of the oak, broom and meadowsweet. Her name 'flower
face' speaks for her beauty. However, she brought no joy to Lleu. She
fell in love with a hunter and plotted to kill her husband, which was
not an easy task as he was invulnerable. Eventually, she tricked Lleu
into a position that exposed him to the hunter and he was killed. Gwydion
punished Blodewedd for her betrayal by changing her into an owl.
