Aife: (Aoifa, Aoife)
An Amazonian chieftainesss, 'the hardest woman warrior in the world', who lived in Alba (Scotland). She was frequently in conflict with the other great woman warrior in Scotland, her sister, Scáthach. Aife cared only for her horses and her chariot, she was once beaten in a contest by Scáthach's famous pupil, Cuchulainn, who unknowingly ended up fathering a child called Connla with her. However, it was the boy's fate to be killed by his own father.
