A story of unrequited love.
A princess of Lochlainn (Norway) who fell in love with Cuchulainn but without ever seeing him. She and a servant changed into swans to seek out Cuchulainn. He threw a stone at the swans and when one of the swans fell to the ground, it became Derbforgaill. He sucked the blood from her wound thus saving her, however because he has tasted her blood, was forbidden carnal relations with her.
