F106: Teutates The god of fertility,
war, and wealth. A shadowy figure, a sort of tribal protector. One of
the three principal divinities of Gaul, along with Taranis
and Esus. Each of the divinities needed human sacrifice to keep them
happy and Teutates was fond of his being served, drowned (they had special
giant cauldrons for this). He is credited with inventing all the crafts
of mankind and is the equivalent of the Roman god Mars. |
